407 ETR

The Ontario government has lost another in a series of ongoing battles with the 407 Electronic Toll Road. It appears that the previous government was thorough in its effort to ensure that the contract they crafted sodomized Ontario drivers. However, court battles are not the only weapon against high toll rates and phantom charges. Simply don't use the road. Never, ever use the road. If few enough people used it, the public would be in a much better bargaining position, don't you think? Collectively, the public could send a serious message to the folks who run this private highway.

I believe that public roads are the way to go. I could live with modest tolls if they were in place to pay for construction and maintenance for a public highway. I have never driven on the 407 and I don't intend to. Can you live without the 407?

There are too many people in the GTA with money who don't give a crap about how much the tolls are.
So, now we have an elite toll road which many use on the company they work fors' bill.
And not much traffic.

I have never driven on the 407 and never will. Public roads good; private roads bad.

I read the article. Sounds a little big brotherish if you ask me. I could live without it, but I don't live in the GTA.

We have a toll here in BC, the Coquihalla. It costs $10 and is a fast route to Vancouver via Merritt & Hope. It shaves a couple of hours off your trip if you take it as opposed to the TCH. It's worth it, and you pay the fee at a booth halfway through.
