Schultze Gets the Blues
We watched this peculiar film on DVD last night. It is a German film with subtitles, about a fellow forced into early retirement from his job in a salt mine. He happens to be an accordionist, and a mediocre one at that, who belongs to a music club and plays polkas. Along the way, he hears a zydeco tune, and at this point his character begins to come to life, as he travels to America in search of zydeco. The film is slow and plodding; the photography is lovely, in an arty sort of way. Yet to me, there was something strangely compelling about this unlikely character and his obsession. Tuffy P. abandoned ship pretty early on and went upstairs. I give this one 2 1/2 anchovies.

Hmm, strangely compelling, especially when you get the blues.
HEY, do you get weird comments posted from anonymous bloggers with odd sites(It's spam)?
Tim, I occassionally get spam here, but not too often. Some people get it a lot. Blogger has a feature you can turn on to help with this. It asks commenters to type in a word, and this seems to help. I haven't been bothered by it enough to turn the feature on.
Did someone say zydeco? Maybe I should see that.
yeah, but it isn't really a 'music movie'
