Is this the forest of no return?

I've been thinking for some time about making a set of abstract woodblock prints. Yesterday, I started on some drawings, and today when I got home from work, I did up this item, which I'm going to call a 'modification', in that I made it by taking the picture I posted yesterday, making it B&W on my computer screen, and messing around with it using a program called Painter Classic. As you can see, the starting point image quickly became unrecognizable. I'm thinking of using the same starting point and making a bunch of these modifications, then using those as the basis for the woodcuts.

That's a nice idea. How is your printer working? I spent hours last night attempting to get the sttings working properly for Photoshop colour space and output.
