Dinner tonight at Mistura Restaurant
We're off to Mistura for dinner tonight to celebrate our friends Cathy and Derek's anniversary. We've never been there before, although we've driven past its Davenport and Avenue Rd. location many times. Their website is here.
Update
Well, we enjoyed a delightful evening. Cathy and Derek are celebrating their 20th anniversary with tonight's dinner. With us were Lee and Gary. Lee, like Tuffy P, was in Cathy and Derek's wedding party. Mistura turned out to be a great place to celebrate. I would describe it as higher end rustic Italian. I ordered an appetizer described as dungeonous crab cake - a simple dish with a complex taste and texture. Perfect. My entree was braised brisket with spaetzle. It has been my experience that really good cooks do magic with braises, and this was no exception. The brisket was tender, juicy and full of flavour, served on sauteed spinach with these wonderful spaetzle. Tuffy had a baccala appetizer, similar to the crab cake I enjoyed, followed by an outrageous red beet rizotto. This dish was an unearthly dazzling red - and totally tasty, subtle and magical. Cathy enjoyed stuffed chicken - I think Lee had a halibut dish - and Gary had veal - all dishes attractively presented. Service was excellent. Cathy and Derek even got their picture taken with the chef on their way out. I highly recommend Mistura for a special occasion! It was very generous of our friends to invite us out to celebrate with them! A perfect evening all around.
