Jerry
I've posted about Jerry before. He was a starving, stray Tom, who barely made winter a couple years ago, when he decided to adopt us. Jerry has FIV (feline AIDS), a narrowing of his aorta, perpetual skin problems and bad teeth. For his comfort, the teeth are our biggest immediate concern, because they cause him some grief. We had an ultrasound done a while back because he has a heart murmer, and that revealed the bigger heart problem. The vet (not his regular one) recommended that we not get the dental work done because of the risk to him due to the anesthetic. Last week, his regular vet suggested the risk was not as great as perhaps we thought. We're not sure what the right thing to do is.
Jerry is on a small dose of a steroid for his skin problem, and we have worked out a deal with him for taking the pill. He absolutely hates having it shoved down his throat, but he happily takes it tucked into a piece of chicken. When he sees the pill bottle come out, he gets excited, because it means chicken. Jerry is the best cat you'll ever meet. Did I mention that?
