Canada, Denmark agree to Hans Island process

So, here we are, having discussions with Denmark about sovereignty over an unihabited Island, a few city blocks in size, in the Arctic. What's really going on here? It looks like this is about betting on global warming and the hope of resources to be pillaged. This can't bode well for the ultra-sensitive arctic environment.
