Clear stream
This shot shows how clear this stream really is. Did I mention the name of the creek? No, I guess I didn't, did I. A hundred yards or so upstream from here, I saw a very large brook trout, perhaps 16 or 17 inches, feeding in a little pocket surrounded by logs. I carefully climbed around some branches and tried to dapple my fly over the trout, which responded to the shadow of my rod by rocketing upstream.

there's a reson he got to be that big!
that's reason!
Mr. Anchovy.... So what IS the name of the stream.
I like your pictures. Very pretty!
Stream, which stream? You mean the stream in the picture? Oh, you wouldn't want to go there!
Mr. Anchovy,
But I would like to go there and fish. It is so beautiful. Is there a reason I might not want to go there?
Well, it's like this... It is a very special and sensitive place, and I just don't tell everyone who asks where it is. Who is this Mr. Trout? There is no link, no clue. I don't know if you are a fly fisherman or perhaps a bank napping bait plonker. If I told you, perhaps you might tell two friends, and so on. If you asked directions to the Credit or the Grand, or another well known waterway, no problem, I'd be happy to help you out. I found this stream, while looking for another one. Funny how that happens.
cheers.
Mr. Anchovy,
I don't think I live close enough to you to venture anywhere near that stream, so rest assured I will not be invading your special spot. I figured you said I wouldn't want to go there because you'd catch me. :)
Looks as if I cannot be caught, either by your spinner or by my profile. You are in Canada, right? You just moved there from the U.S.? I suppose I could go read your profile. I'll do that.
Good fishing to you!
I live in Toronto Canada, Mr. Trout, and I have lived here all my life. The stream I wrote about is within driving distance of the city, but is farther than most fishermen are willing to drive.
cheers.
Mr. Anchovy,
This is the former Mr. Trout. I changed my name to something more appropriate as I am female.
I used to live near Massena in northern New York. We used to go to Ottawa all the time to buy fireworks and beer. I loved it up there. I can't say I miss the snow, though. Spent a vacation at Lake of the Woods, as well, when I was younger. Canada is a great place. A little liberal for me, but so what.
My father was an avid trout fisherman, and whenever he got the chance, he'd chunk a spinner - as he called it, to try and catch the big one. My brother, very young at the time, called it 'hunka pinner'. We still laugh about it, especially as my father never did catch the big one and would always come back to the car where we were all waiting patiently and cuss. Then he caught a shark that dragged his little bass boat out to sea before he cut the line and finally gave up on catching the big one.
The same thing happened to me in the same bass boat, but as soon as the water lapped over the front of the boat from the force of the shark's pull, I started hearing the theme music from JAWS and cut the line.
These are true fish stories. :)
the true ones are the best ones.....and once you get a taste of our liberalism, it's infecteous
Mr. Anchovy,
I like your use of the word 'infectious' for your 'taste of liberalism'. I float around the middle, I guess - loathing any extreme position on the political continuum. I adhere to many liberal ideas, as well as many conservative ideas, so I guess I am nothing. At least nothing one can put a name to. I can say that I hate the political discourse, if you can call it that, taking place in my country right now. It is revolting.
Do you have any of that vile discourse around you, and if so, do you join in with reason, or with set-in-stone political ideology?
I suppose I should put something about fish in here. The hardest fish I ever caught was a flounder. They glue themselves to the bottom, and I never fished with the right test line, so cajoling the fish onto the bank involved a lot of walking and mud-sliding. After all that work, I was so trashed by the eyes on one side of its head, I refused to eat it. :)
We have our share of amazing politics, but nothing like Bush. Even our rightest most fundamentalist conservative idealogue seems downright reasonable by comparison. Our Liberal Party got caught up in a serious and very ugly scandal this year, the sordid details of which I'm sure you can catch up with on-line, but remain in government for lack of opposition. The NDP, our social democrats, are quietly gathering increased support, and a good chunk of Quebec vote for a federal party that supports Quebec nationalism. Yep, we have our share.
