Blackberry season
...and I'm not talking about a portable electronic device here. For the past few days, I've been picking a soup bowl daily of the tastiest blackberries from our garden. We planted one bush three years ago, and each year it gets better and better. This year's fruit is on last year's growth....so at end of season, I'll cut back the growth that bore fruit this year, and allow the new growth to thrive for next year.

Wow. Are the blackberries out there already? Ours are still in the early stages.
I can go out behind my office and pick from the many, many bushes when things get going.
Have a great week!
Alas, it is so dry here that none of the wild berries I love to harvst are going to be any good this year. No huckleberries, blackberries, black raspberrries!
Just out of curiousity, how is the hawberry crop looking? Thinking aout taking the ferry from Tobemory to Manitoulin for the Haweater Festival. Manitoulin is one of my favorite places in the world.
I don't know about hawberries, but if my blackberries are any indication, I'm betting on plenty
