Appeals court overturns mad cow ban

I don't think the ban on sending Canadian beef south of the border had much to do with mad cow disease, nor do I believe Canadian cows have suddenly become more healthy. R-CALF argued that Canada doesn't adequately test for mad cow disease, but are they not a protectionist lobby group? Now there is pressure from American meat packing plants, who want the volume Canadian beef can provide. The whole business looks like it is more about trade issues than health issues.

All countries have to stop feeding cow-products to cows. While they are at it, stop pumping them full of drugs. It will cost a little more, prices will be a little higher, and profits a little smaller, but maybe then the public on both sides of the border can count on healthy meat.
