Sandra Bernhard : The Official Website!

Tuffy P and I attended the 519 Capital Campaign Gala Fundraiser at the Imperial Room tonight. Sandra Bernhard performed. I had never seen her act before, and know her work mostly from her role in The King of Comedy, the Scorsese film. She put on a fun show, after some jazzy opening acts, and a tasty dinner. There was a silent auction at the event as well, and we shopped, hauling home a fancy-pants mixer to support the campaign.

The 519 is the Community Centre on Church St. in the gay village in Toronto. It hosts innumerable programs in that community. The fundraising effort, spear-headed by Salah Bachir, has raised upwords of $5 million for a much needed expansion and renovation of the facility. Salah Bachir, by the way, will also be the Grand Marshall of the Pride parade this year.
