logan branch

loganbranch, originally uploaded by mister anchovy.

Logan Branch is from the same series, called the Blackthorn Paintings. I showed most of them at Loop Gallery in Toronto. Logan Branch is a trout stream near Bellefont Pennsylvania, not far from State College. It runs behind a Corning plant, but remains a healthy if difficult stream. Logan Branch flows into Spring Creek, the first catch and release stream in Pennsylvania. It was designated catch and release after industrial waste containing kepones and mirex was dumped into the stream. The government thoughfully decided to restrict fishermen from killing trout in this stream since eating the trout might kill the fishermen. The trout survived the onslaught of chemicals, but many of the mayflies didn't, so there are limited hatches on the river.
