CBC News: 'Extinct' woodpecker found alive

This is so fabulous. Here's a quote from the article: "The woodpecker was once nicknamed the "Lord God" bird because that's what people apparently exclaimed when they saw its 90-centimetre wingspan and striking black-and-white plumage."

Mike pointed out to me that now that this bird has been found, it is a candidate for funding.... what a wacky world...
