Friendly Giant Theme
I mentioned The Friendly Giant. Can you remember the theme? It was called Early One Morning. You can hear a midi clip at the link. Somebody once told me that Friendly played the song live each day on his clarinet, and each day set up the little rocking chair, and the bigger chair too, the one for two people to curl up in. nice.

God, talk about memories! I grew up in southeast Michigan, so we got to see all of the CBC programming on CKLW, channel 9, Windsor. As a small child I loved the Friendly Giant. Then 20 years later, we'd visit mom and dad, and the kids would always watch him! It was such a hoot.
I spent a good deal of my formative years watching the CBC. My favorites, besides The Friendly Giant, were Hockey Night, and Cross Canada Curling. Years later, the favorite of both my children and I was You Can't Do That On Television (whatever happened to Christine McGlade, Lisa Ruddy, and Allister Gillis? We all know what happened to Allanis Morrisette)
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. And yes, all these years later, I still find myself occasionally humming the Friendly Giant theme.
Wasn't it a recorder?

You know, you're right. You must have been a loyal viewer. Did Chez Helen come on after Friendly in your neck of the woods?
That is one show I never liked as a child but I would watch the beginning just to hear the music and see those little rocking chairs LOL I too think it was a recorder.
The chair for two to curl up in?
