The Future of Libraries - from the can o' worms department

So what is going to happen to our libraries, and to publishing? I don't see print disappearing....reading long tracts on a screen is just not as comfortable as laying back with a book. However, consider the possibility of a vending machine for books. Deposit some coins and key in the code for the book you want (like a juke box). This accesses an electronic file and the book is printed for you on demand on basic 8 1/2 X 11 paper....already you can get printable book files on-line, no?

When my father was ill in a nursing home, I read to him a lot, and it was a beautiful thing. To me its not the same on a tape though. It seems so passive.
