CBC News Indepth: Hockey

Let's say for a minute that these clowns do settle? They will have to be punished, no? Here's what I suggest. What if nobody went to games during the abbreviated season. What if nobody bought any products advertised during hockey games. That would put the fans in a position of power and put this 'labour dispute' into perspective. I still advocate the idea of shutting down the NHL - it could be replaced with a healthy 6 or 8 team league....

I don't think you have to worry about it. Except in the original 6 markets, plus Philly, St. Louis, Denver, Dallas, and MAYBE San Jose and Columbus, I don't think Americans will be flocking to hockey now anytime soon...Tampa Bay might have a chance to draw fans back, but only because they have a great team and half the population of Tampa/St. Pete are Michigan, Minnesota, Ontario and New York expatriots. The sunbelt cities have undoubadly been set even further back then where they began from.

Having said that, i must say that I have no intention of punishing myself to spite the owners. the local college team (Notre Dame) stinks, and there is a three year waiting list to get Michigan or Michigan State tickets. So bring back my Red Wings! Like a pathetic, insecure lover, I'll take them back no matter how badly they've strayed!
