The Imperial Room Revisited - for The 519

Last night, Mrs. Anchovy and I found ourselves at the old Imperial Room at the Royal York Hotel, at the fund-raiser for The 519 Capital Campaign. We had a great time in support of an important cause in Toronto (and we bought loads of fabulous olive oil at the silent auction). The evening included a great dinner, and entertainment by Billy Newton Davis, Jackie Richardson, and Joan Rivers.

I know the 519 going back many years, when I used to play GO there at the Toronto GO Club, which at that time was on the top floor. I understand the guys still play there, in the cafe on the ground floor. At the time, I was only vaguely aware that this community centre was a focal point for the gay community in Toronto.
